01 / The problem
The healthcare and social services category covers 37 occupations. To count, you need at least 12 months of full-time work (or the same amount part-time) in one of them, within the past three years. It doesn't have to be one continuous stretch.
Hospital HR sends the same letter to everyone: title, dates, done. A nurse aide, a licensed practical nurse, and a registered nurse sit under different NOC codes with different duties. If your letter doesn't spell yours out, nobody can tell which one you are.
How the 60 days go when you start lateDay
Invitation lands. You email HR at the hospital and the agency you worked for.
The hospital sends title and dates. No duties, no hours.
The agency says it only confirms employment, not duties.
You worked rotating shifts. Nobody can agree on your hours per week.
Deadline. Shift schedules don't slow the clock.
The people who submit on time started collecting documents before the invitation came.
02 / What it costs you
In 2026 the minimum experience for category draws went up from six months to one year. Every month has to be backed by a letter that shows the duties of a listed occupation.
Worked at more than one site, through an agency, or part-time? Each one needs its own letter, and the hours have to add up.
To whom it may concern,
[Name] is employed at [Hospital] as a Registered Nurse since 2023. This letter is issued at the employee's request.

Guides for your situation
How this kit was built
Every requirement in the kit comes from IRCC's published guidance: its instructions for work experience letters and proof of funds, the Express Entry Year-End Report, and the official rounds of invitations data. Every number on this site names its source.
When IRCC changes a rule, the files get updated and you get the new version free.
What this isn't: advice from an immigration consultant or a lawyer. The kit is general information. If your situation is complicated, hire a licensed RCIC or lawyer. You'll still need these documents either way.
